it all started in…
…September 2018 when I hired a stylist to come over and sort out my wardrobe. I noticed that her branding was a bit confused and offered to have a look at it to see how she could improve. Little did I know that this chat was going to change my life. I got a glimpse into her world as an entrepreneur and I liked what I saw. My husband suggested I started up my own company helping other small business owners with their branding. It all seemed quite straightforward at the time and I thought, “yes, I’m just going to do it”. I’d gone through a few business ideas over the years as a stay-at-home-mum, but this idea was the first that felt right, felt like something I could actually do.
With a masters degree in marketing and communications which I finished with a thesis on branding, I felt that I knew the principles of what makes a brand strong and recognisable. Throughout my working life, I’ve always had a job which involved a lot of writing, and I’m very creative and have a good eye for style and how colours work. I blame my Danish background for that. Danes seem to have this innate sense of style and of what looks good - Scandi style anyone?
In October 2018 I started building my website and working out what services I was going to offer. I read absolutely everything I could about brands and branding to brush up on my knowledge (and found a new passion for business books). When I finished my degree way back when, there was no such thing as social media and a lot had changed in the world of small businesses and branding, all very exciting for someone like me who had been away from the “scene” for a little while, but also suddenly quite daunting. I went to a couple of networking events feeling like a proper imposter, but it let me get a feel for what local businesses were “out there” that could benefit from working on their branding and brand style.
In January 2019 I contacted a couple of women I’d met though networking offering to work with them on their branding (for free). They both accepted and I learned so much from working on their brands. I then landed an actual client after those two. Again, I learned so much from working with this client. A number of clients down the line, and what I offer now with my services is very different from how it was when I started, not that it wasn’t good, but now it’s great and it just keeps getting better and better. I keep educating myself and take away something new with each client. I love where I’m going with Presence and can’t wait to see where it takes me in the future. Thank you for stopping by. Please feel free to come back any time and to connect with me on social media. I’d love to get to know you and your business and hear your story.
